Seems like old times.

15 years and counting with out a single trick or treater

WEEK NINE

TOTAL FAIL
27 - 3
( Siri used the word subjugated )

Tick tick tick - Once again the University of Georgia Bulldogs did not really show up for a game. Ill prepared, non moved with some dude at quarterback that I never heard of - IN WEEK NINE. Also we have gone NINE quarters with out a touchdown/

Messy messy messy play with mystery qb throwing the ball to Gators as often as Bulldogs, we were not in it from the get go. The usual FIRE RICHT started before 00:00, this time with some extra pepper. The things that always happen when UGA has troubles in Jacksonville.

IT'S NOT LIKE I DID NOT DO MY PART !

Slow Cooker BBQ
King Hawaiian Sliders
( ham and Swiss cheese )
Meaty Beans
Slaw
Chips

Deviled Eggs
Pimento Cheese Sandwiches

Didn't do chocolate cookies because we had Halloween candy

I bet that almost ever other kick off of ours will be either noon or 7:30 or something...

Bark or Bark

I made some little Halloweenie shaped dog cookies for any canine trick or treaters that should show up tonight. Which I knew would not, so I just took some to my neighbors.

Empire State Building Steely Dan Light Show

This looks so darn cool and embiggens great.

From JMG

Fifty years ago yesterday the Empire State Building went live with its fancy new FM antenna, which was apparently a very big deal to New Yorkers burdened with transistor AM radios. To celebrate, last night the iconic tower staged a light show to Steely Dan’s “lite rock classic,” FM (No Static At All), complete with the unbleeped F-word and a hired helicopter to record from above. Watch below. More about the sonic landmark from the Audio Engineering Society:
Before the Alford antenna ringing the Empire State Building’s 102nd floor observation gallery went into service, only one station at a time could broadcast from one antenna at a time. The invention of the combined master antenna system embodied in the Alford antenna allowed multiple radio stations to broadcast from a single antenna array, saving space and cost and marking a revolution in FM broadcast technology. Today’s combining systems have improved over the last 50 years and now accomplish superior propagation of radio signals to the largest listening audience in the US.
The Alford antenna was the model for subsequent master antenna sites in Toronto, St. Louis, Houston and Minneapolis-St. Paul, and eventually even back at the Empire State Building, where a new master antenna system was commissioned in the 1980s. The original 1965 Alford antenna continues to serve as a backup and was pressed into service after 9/11 to provide emergency replacement antenna capacity for stations that were displaced from their World Trade Center sites. Today, the new Master FM antenna systems reach the most listeners anywhere in the world, and is the largest sophisticated FM combiner in the western hemisphere.

GAME THREE

The New York Mets brought in home to the Big Apple and gave New Yorkers a reason to be happy beating the  Royals 9-3. Royals still up 2 games to 1.

It's beginning to look a lot .....

Last day for the pumpkins at my Wegmans - dont know if they sold the thousands that were there, or just got rid of them this morning. I saw a couple of procrastinators buying them today

You know these halls will be decked all in red and green come Monday, but at least they held out till now, not like so many other stores.

GAME TWO

AND
The Kansas City Royals are UP two.

I didn't watch a single pitch, locked in on the screaming match in Colorado instead.

THE GOP DEBATE

Perfect for Halloween
The Breakdown : HILLARY BAD, GOVERNMENT BAD, MEDIA BAD... blah , blah, cut taxes for the rich.

The start of this debacle of a debate was just so uncomfortable for me that I almost just went back to my new book. It just puts me so ill at ease for all 10 of them to be shouting at one another and the moderators all at the same time, so desperate, needy and rude. It got better as the time went on, they did stop totally talking over one another. But it just seemed so very unprofessional .

There are just too many actors up on that stage, and the powers that be in the GOP need to do something about it or they are never ever going to get rid of Trump and Carson. There is not enough oxygen in the room to sustain all of these players.

A little bit of a shock when the screen time came out right after the fade to black, I was very surprised, I figured it was going to be the Rubio / Cruz show but no

Fiorna wins again!

Even though she was far from winning tonights debate. Tonight was , in my opinion Marco Rubio's night as he landed lots and lots of good GOP friendly jabs at Hillary, the others on the stage and the biggest boogie man of all the media. ( all that GOP black money does not matter - the DEMS have Anderson Cooper , or something like that )
I dont think Trump hurt himself either , bad for the others - and church mouse Carson hardly made a peep other than not hating the gays at all, which will do his campaign wonders , since the more he talks the more he worse off he is.

So no super stand out winner, but man was there ever a big time loser in Colorado tonight. Jeb! had to , had to, had to get some traction tonight , and for what ever reason decided to kick that off with a very poorly planed attack on his fellow Floridian Rubio over his voting recored in the Senate, and it just fell so fat guy belly flop bad on the folks there in the hall, and was shrill and desperate to those watching at home. I just dont think he wants to be President at all, I think his dad wants him to.. and he is just going through the motions . Will be very surprised if he is in this come the next one of these gatherings.

My Debate Cure

The Great Pumpkin came early this year as Neil bought me a nice present.
Tucking into some juicy back stage Broadway gossip with a nice cup of tea is a perfect way to get that bad GOP taste out of my brain.

Dinner

We ate pretty crappy the last couple of days.
Pizza on Monday and leftovers on Tuesday, so tonight we needed something close to healthy

Chicken
( rotisserie from across the street )

Wild Rice Blend
Squash and Onions*
Asparagus

* That Chef and the Farmer way of doing Squash and Onions, cooking the onions a LONG time ( and use lots ) then adding the thinly sliced squash and cooking a good while longer. Just salt and little pepper - the best way I have ever found for cooking the summer favorite.

The BIG story of the day ....

HRH Prince Harry in DC to hang with Barack and Michelle AND promote his fantastic cause
THE INVICTUS GAMES

Those Windsor genes are creeping up on our favorite ginger Prince very rapidly.

All tongue and cheek, HERE are many more pics of this seemingly really nice young man doing some very important work.

THIS DAY IN 2007

UGA went on to win 42 - 30

Home Made Dog Treats

Im not really sure at all why I decided to do this. I read this horrible thing about some treats that were made in China - the ones that stay soft for ever - hurting some dogs, but Koda never gets those.

  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup oats (optional if your dog is on a grain free diet, sub an extra 1/4 cup grain free flour)
  • 3 cups whole wheat flour, brown rice flour, or gluten free flour
  • 3 tablespoons of all natural peanut butter
Pre heat to 350º - just mix these all together, it came together pretty easy for me just by hand, but you could use a food processor. Kneed for a bit, then roll out to about a half and inch and cut with cookie cutters. In the oven for 30 - 35 min

At first I just assumed I was getting all these seasonal dog treat recipes in m y searches, but no, it turns out that most of them use canned pumpkin as a binder. The only thing I had to go out and buy was whole wheat flower.

But these could not have been any easier to make and you know for sure what is in them. AND he really seems to like them. They are much more crunchy than any store bought treat .

I made little squirrels as well.

Daily Koda

1998 R E M Up original full album

18 years ago yesterday - REM's 11th studio album was released. It is " new " REM - so non canonical for the CHRONIC TOWN FOREVER crowd - but the record is one of my favorites.

Dinner

First homemade soup of the season to watch our favorite night of television.

Sausage and Kale Soup
w/ Potatoes and Swiss Cheese

Daily Koda

A really nice afternoon today. After a bit of running around by Neil and I , Koda got in a nice walk.

Met a nice new dog - these are some people on the trail who let their dogs just run free . which is a bit odd these days, but it is the country and they live at the end of a dead in street, but their yard does back up to a popular walking trail...

He was a very sweet dog
Two very much alike, but I think the sky and trees are really pretty in these

Then Koda did some practice trick or treating at the house where the people carved their pumpkins too early this year

 then home.

THE POLLS

Turned out to be a pretty fun college football weekend for the rest of the country , just not the BULLDAWG nation, taking its yearly hiatus pre Jacksonville. We are going with the AP poll this time, even though UGA is not in it - but ALL THE WAY UP TO #23 in the Coach's poll up from 25. We rule. Heading into the last week in October, where do we stand on who will be standing come the new year ?

  1. Ohio State
  2. Baylor
  3. Clemson
  4. LSU
  5. TCU
  6. Michigan State
  7. ALABAMA
  8. Stanford
  9. Notre Dame
  10. Iowa
  11. FLORIDA
  12. Oklahoma State
  13. Utah
  14. Oklahoma
  15. Michigan
  16. Memphis
  17. Florida State
  18. Houston
  19. OLE MISS
  20. Toledo
  21. Temple
  22. Duke
  23. Pitt
  24. UCLA
  25. MISSISSIPPI STATE

Heading into the last week in October, where do we stand on who will be standing come the new year ? It is almost comical how things are playing out with all these top 10 games coming so late in the season.

#1 Ohio State has the weekend off
#2 Baylor off so all the Baptists can close their doors and pray away Halloween
#3 Clemson has North Carolina
#4 LSU has an off week so they can all go to New Orleans for Halloween
#5 TCU has a Thursday game this week against West Virginia, seems like that could mean something.
#6 Michigan State has the weekend off

#11 Florida Gators do not have the weekend off ...

The standing of either Georgia or Florida have ever really mattered when it comes to the WLOCP - so  you never know...
