WEEK SIX, day 1

The start of our last full week of radiation! With good news from the doctor saying that Neil was just doing exceptionally well - as a matter of fact she wanted to spend more time with us because we were a happy out come. It is starting to wear on him, the expected tiredness is setting in, and will be here for a while, but other than that we are doing great!

COOKIES !

What the hell did we just watch ??

I know I have been totally absent from the political scene here on the k+b - odd if you go back and look four or eight years. BUT, in my defense this whole winter has just been off the charts wackadoodle! A little bit hard to wrap my brain around , let alone do any writing with any insight other than " WTF ? "

But hopefully that is coming to an end. Its getting serious in both races with South Carolina for the Dems this weekend and SUPER TUESDAY right on the heels of that. Could be some big changes. So hopefully soon....

Dinner

Chicken and Rocket Salad
on top of a big piece of Naan.

Pushing Spring!

Adventures after health care

Out and about all over town in what turned out to be some pretty icky weather after the hospital . This getting out of the house on a daily basis really could catch on ...

Wall of Hamantaschen at the Pittsford Wegmans, I passed - but am thinking a treat for the Oscars this weekend!

Very snow , not sure you can tell

We are re doing the kitchen, and as much as I hate to say it, since part of my reason for living to hate the spouses ( mostly wives ) on House Hunters, I think we are going to go with granite counter tops. Not at all what I thought I wanted because I really dont care for the large veins that most of the granite seems to have, just makes for a horribly busy kithen.

We has settled on a very soft mottled darkish green counter top with this beautiful set in cream colored sink - when the sales person just totally talked us out of getting it. I dont even really know what what "solid surface " counter tops are , but we can't have them.

So I was going to go with Quartz - but they were just to busy as well, and as it turns out the granite which is not all super busy is the same price if not cheaper ... I will keep you posted on how things work out.

In all honesty, he has always had his faults , and well, he looks like the damn unibomber

But he is still close to my own personal Jesus.

Daily Koda

Snowy, Rainy, Snainy sort of day, ended up with a few inches by the end of the evening. Makes getting around a bit dicey. This is from the morning when the sidewalks were still clear.

Old age is not for sissies.

BAD BLOGGER

There is nothing going on at all - and I am fighting a cold AND I can not find my phone ( meaning lack of photos ) It is here at the house , or I could have left it at St John's tonight. Either way Ill find it tomorrow.  There was a cold rain all day long today with horrible , real pea soup fog tonight  - so not a whole lot of photos anyway.

I will be back up to 100 % tomorrow.

WEEK SIX, day 1

Flying by really. Seems as if it just started, and I guess there will be a ways to go afterwards. Adventures in health care indeed
People could not be nicer here - if one has to have cancer.....

Daily Koda

Our walk this morning was close to solid ice, or at least icy compacted snow - pretty hard to get around. The sidewalks are all clean as can be, but he needed some running, which he got.

ROTHKO!

Daily Koda

Still a little warm today - not like yesterday , but nice . Sidewalks all clear - so Mendon walks are easy. Trail is still a mess. The warmth just made the deep snow , less deep slush - hard to get around in.

Movie Day ( Friday ) updated

I really enjoyed this movie.. I am happy I saw it. Neil did not care for it really at all, so a split decision. I really knew nothing about it other that Charlotte Rampling was nominated for a BEST ACRESS award and we do try and see them all.  ( I need to update my list.)
It was not until the final credits that I saw it was an Andrew Haigh film - and everything sort of clicked. He also made the film WEEKEND , which again, I loved and Neil, not so much.

I watched an interview with Mr Haigh where he said this was a sequel to Weekend- and it totally makes since, even thought they could not be more different stories. His film style is so unique. Super realism.. a two camera shot, you are living it with the actors, not bouncing around in the editing room. Clean and straight forward.. Just like his other film ( he has only made the two ) a linear story, a few days one at the very start of what could be a  lifetime, the other 45 years into that lifetime.

I also loved as much as any part of it showing mature characters as full fledged humans, not cartoons, not reacting to kids or grandkids but as fully realized people, with full interior and exterior lives. So very rare.

Just for the non Facebook set .... Im guessing 1987, could be later. I cleaned out my little loft office the other say and came across all sorts of things. At first this photo made me just down right blue - but that turned to a nice warm fuzzy after a bit. We really didn't know what exactly we had back then. Spread all over the country now... Mendon to Hawaii.

Thanks to the snow mobiles, we were able to get in a good, well close to good, walk this morning

Lent Means Soup

First Wednesday of the season - I did not make soup this week, others did. A really good coconut/lime rice soup.
 Giant Baby
We then had a Ted Talk and a discussion afterwards. A nice time, Ill cook next week

It's been a while : WHITE DOG IN SNOW

Moving around was so much easier today post a lot of plowing, our mystery sidewalk guy is the best.

WE GOT OUT !

We finally got our driveway plowed around lunch time today. It just changed my whole world view  - I did not want to go anywhere during the storm yesterday, but the fact that I could not even if I wanted to must made me filled all closed in and claustrophobic .

Started out day at another hospital here in town, the BIG teaching one that is an entire campus , Neil is in a post prostate surgery case study. Made me very happy that our daily hospital is the small boutique one - which we went to right after this.

MONSTER

The snow started earlier than the weather folk said it would. The coming storm had been talked about for days and last night it was finally here. It was snowing pretty hard when Koda and I went for our last walk of the day, but I went to bed thinking that it could not really get as nasty as they said it might. the winter so far had been a non event. And besides they never get it exactly right,,,

And they did not this time either, it was much worse. The sound of our next door neighbor's driveway being plowed woke us up, and we just stayed in bed watching the beautiful snow fall - until I came down stairs and found that we could not get out of the house! At least with out me shoveling off the steps...
It snowed all day, we had plans to see an early movie with a friend, but canceled, turns out everything was closed anyway.

The hospital even called and said that they could not even get in. People were foolish this morning and all headed out, I guess before things , work, stores were closed. All of Rochester came to a stand still , every major express way was shut down, wrecks everywhere. We can handle winter weather here for sure, but not this much , this fast - and not having any practice so far this season.

Record snow for this date, and a .10 of an inch off the all time February record... a  lot of snow!

Kept going all morning and after noon, the nice man that plows the side walks could not keep up.
