That Palin Magic

Governor Palin's swooping into Georgia at the 11th hour seems to be getting the job done. The AJC is reporting that turn out is light today, which is not a good thing for Jim Martin. Even if Saxby Chambliss does , in the end, retain his seat in the Senate, it shows that Georgia is , or will be a purple state. Polls close at seven.
Now, the BIG news of the Governor Palin's visit of Georgia, NO SURPRISE , was what she wore! Looks like ALL those cloths that the GOP payed for over the Summer have not gone back to the store!

The Holiday that keeps on giving...

Thanksgiving in Winder , at my Brother's house. Laurie did a Beautiful table.

MY BIG FAT 45 DOLLAR TURKEY !!

You KNOW I did not pay that much for it!  The day to buy your 45$ Thanksgiving Turkey is the Monday AFTER Thanksgiving. I payed 19.45. It looks .... different. It is not even the same bird as the one that you get for 19¢ a pound when you spend 50$. It weighs a lot more than it looks like it should, and cooked slowly......
The scary part is that I will LOVE it ....

From Baton Rouge with love...

via Winder and Athens ( and Tuscaloosa and Auburn and Tallahassee and Oxford and Knoxville.... etc...)

HOME FROM POMPANUCK!

Back in Mendon after a lovely , somewhat decadent Thanksgiving weekend! A MOST nasty ride home that took about three hours longer than it should have , Traffic and mixed winter precip add to an icky ride home! Mad Husbands, pooping dogs and a murder mystery all added to the adventure
A really fun, (other than the score of the game) weekend. It is always wonderful to spend time up there , BUT, it is VERY nice to be back in the land off high speed Internet and cable tv.

HAPY BIRTHDAY , DAHN

It was Saturday, but the whole Internet thing and the whooping my dogs got,(and other things) kept me from posting that day. Dahn's Dad and his crack team of sous chefs turned out a fantastic meal . A wonderful time was had by all.

  • a Smelt - Scallop Stack ( with Beets!)
  • half a lamb
  • the lamb, rice and sausage stuffed eggplant in phylo ( TDF!), a red cabbage with chestnut dish, and cream spinach
  • some SERIOUS wine... off the charts good, but you know, I couldn't pronounce what i was drinking
  • the party
Scott and Lisa gave Dahn some of these very cool paper lanterns! That you light on fire and they sail away. After that wonderful meal and Camel Cake, we all went outside into the impossibly clear cold night to enjoy them.
