No, wait ... we CAN still all go to Washington DC

Clarence did his best to put an end to the party. I am not at all sure what he wanted to happen. Maybe he just thinks Jill Biden is HOT. SO! The Inauguration is on!
WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court has turned down an emergency appeal from a New Jersey man who says President-elect Barack Obama is ineligible to be president because he was a British subject at birth.
The court did not comment on its order Monday rejecting the call by Leo Donofrio of East Brunswick, N.J., to intervene in the presidential election. Donofrio says that since Obama had dual nationality at birth _ his mother was American and his Kenyan father at the time was a British subject _ he cannot possibly be a "natural born citizen," one of the requirements the Constitution lists for eligibility to be president.
In a related story, ex Senate gadfly, Actor man himself Fred " I hate Barack Obama" Thompson is  finding the silver lining in on Obamamania:
FORMER Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson is cashing in on next month's inauguration. A source tells us the ex-Republican presidential candidate and part-time actor, who did 142 episodes of "Law & Order," is offering to rent his luxury one-bedroom condo in Washington, DC, for five days. The price: $30,000. "It has a balcony overlooking the inaugural parade route, the Navy Memorial and the US Capitol, and comes with a reserved parking space," said our insider.

Oy Gevald!

from the b.day blog:
Santa Dreidel
Celebrate both Christmas and Hanukkah with this 2-3/4" tall wooden Santa Dreidel. Imagine the fun you’ll have playing the dreidel game by the light of the menorah while you wait for Santa to climb down the chimney with his sack full of gifts! Each side features a different Christmas symbol (Santa, Christmas tree, candy cane, reindeer). Sure to confound and confuse both Jews and Gentiles! ( only 4.95! )
from the Archie McPhee catalog.

COLD

a beautiful sunset.. on its way to being a frigid night! I made a big pot of soup with I got home this morning! We are in for the night!

My morning adventure

So, after mucho wine last night, I got up to take Scott to the train station in downtown Rochester, a place I've been to like 1000 times or so. It was very windy down in Mendon, and got much more windy as we got closer to the lake. By the time we were in Downtown it was close to white out, really, could not really see past the hood of the car at times!  SCARY! I missed the turn to go to the Station and ended up in what Neil called " not the best neighborhood"... Not that much up here comes close to the areas around College Park. It is getting closer to Scott's train time, and we are getting more and more lost.
Finally called Neil to figure out where we were! All the time it was just snowing completely sideways! A fine adventure for Kyle and Scott. We made it with a little time to spare. I hope he made it back to Pompanuck safe and sound! It's not snowing down here but C-O-L-D ! Not going to be above freezing for a while...

Dinner at Laurier

Such a nice little gem of a place, right here in scenic Mendon! Kyle, Neil, David, Dahn and Scott gathered here for cocktail before going over to dinner.
Last nights menu :
  • Maine Lobster Bisque, with fresh cream, Pernod and brandy
  • Warm Savory Tart, with goat cheese, mushrooms and roasted tomato
  • Field green salad with dried cranberries , pine nuts and blue cheese
  • Tournedos of Beef Tenderloin - or - Roasted rack of New Zealand Lamb - or - Pan Seared Ahi Tuna. All came with mashed potato and veggies. I had the lamb, Neil had the beef, everyone else had the Tuna, it was all very good.
  • Grand Marnier Creme Brulee

Now this is the place that is only open on Saturday Nights, they do not have a pouring license, so wine is included with your dinner, all you care to drink. For the most part, we all cared..... a lot. It was really good wine.
