Miss Dorian Grey

Anyone else concerned that JJBSP is in full out reverse aging? Come on girl, drink more, you are making the rest of us look bad....

All you hear is time stands still in travel

In the mad panic that is close up day at the commune, a card was NOT put in the camera, so no pictures of the carnage. Maybe that is a good thing. Koda got in some last swims, said good bye to his pals. One last morning of Tai Chi.... connecting my earth and sky.
It is odd, that even though the washer and dryer ran non stop for a full week. ( seriously, day and night, for a full week, at one point poor Scott got up at like 5:00 am JUST to slip some shirts and undies into the front of the line ), on the very last day , there is an Everest of laundry to be done. Summer at long last made an appearance so lots and lots of sheets were hung out to dry. That is one of my all time favorite smells... sheets dried out in the sun....

I drove most of the way home until SIRIUS channel 22 stopped working and I got sleepy. A warm car, sunny day. Neil and his mosquito bites closed the deal.

One of my NOT so favorite smells awaited us when we got home! Kyle thought it would be a good idea to put out some rat poison since us and the dogs would all be gone for a week, not much, four little packages. Not really one of my better ideas... We came home to a little mousy Jonestown. Mostly outside the house but a few inside. Good Times! ( and all better now...)

HOT today.... like 92 degrees, when it only hit 80 twice in July, and I need to mow the lawn....

Communal living, the last night....

Butchest picture of me...ever. Girly drink AND girly dog. Kyle is secure in his assumed masculinity.

Left over night....

Close to as fun as we had for the whole week, very low pressure, get a plate, get some food and a drink.. go eat

Started with waves of strawberry banana margaritas....and baby sitting the tiny tiny poodle. Who slept in my window sill as i napped.

Jodi and Paul with girly drinks.

There were all sorts of things stuck in this tree.
LEFTOVERS! Cold chicken, hot pork, the famous squash, watermelon
worlds largest hot bacon dressing spinach salad.
Christ of the Pompanuck, with a high reading of her blood pressure, it was a party game. Again, they do not have cable, and you could not sling a dead cat and not hit a doctor of something or some kind OR a good old fashion hypochondriac.

Communal Living, day six..

Everyone except a few hearty types have gone off to the gigantic Orvis Tent Sale over in Manchester. It is a wonderful sale, I made out like a bandit last year, I was just in need of some Kyle time.. big time.

It is lovely here when it is quite. I mean, it's lovey always, but silence suits this place, very well.

Home tomorrow... and it's time. A little bit of a wall today. Leaving for more beer in a few....

The sad sad tomato crop this year... They DO not like cool wet summers.
Scott and his pals pour a new cement floor for the Sugar Shack.. where they make all the maple syrup.

Non Fiction book group.. I didn't read it, just didn't interest me at all. David, Paul, Dahn. Neil took the pic, he read it.
Koda swims!
Circus tents.. all the better communes have them.. this one is particularly nice, floor is all orential rugs.. soft, a pretty good nap spot.

Communal Living : Brunch, at last, Brunch at last

Thank God Almighty, Brunch at last

Left Overs galore.. so I put together a couple of stradas last night. One was left over Pesole with Jimmy Dean Sausage , the other was tomato and spinach. Make your own cheese grits , sausage, bacon and watermelon, biscuits.

Communal Living : Mexican Night

Juarez comes to Pompamuck! Dr. Dean and Joyce brought the flavor of old Mexico with them from Texas.

Paul, standing on a metal chair, on top of the tables to hang the paper lanterns from the tip top of the tent. Post a few Iced Tea Specials....

FIESTA!
Dahn's Dad David Did a wonderful job of Mexican Night! So, SO! much food...
Ya'll know how much I love a taco bowl you can eat. This is full of tomatoes, fresh home made salsa, home made pesole cheese and refried beans and a killer just made chicken taco
D-O-G waits his turn
Jodi brings out the forgotten squash
My very good pal Mert....
again.... David Dean made home made pralines for dessert~

Koda pokes his head out for a bite.

Communal Living : Day..... have way lost count

Robinson Caruso of the Green Mountains, this is my view as I blog this morning.....

One shoeless t-shirt clad day blends into the next. Yesterday was a "down Internet" day. There is a limit as to how much you can do on line with the plan here, and there are more lap tops than people . There was an old Grisham book on the shelf beside my bed... a lazy, sometimes rainy day spent with my good pal, ( and good Democrat) John.

We lost some members of the commune and gained others. Down seven, plus four, and one tiny tiny poodle.

Yesterday was going to be an alcohol free day.. but really, it would have been rude NOT to welcome the newcomers with a toast, and it was only beer. Was very slack about last nights dinner photos, won't be so today. David made some wonderful chicken on the grill and Dahn and I picked from the garden and the still massive remains of her Dad's Piggly Wiggle raid. Pictures in reverse time order....

A late BDP for Sadie... good cake!
The tiny tiny poodle, giving me the stink eye
What was left of the chicken.. there was more inside
Lisa broght over a batch of still warm homemade lemon tea cakes around oneish... really, life is hard when you are roughing it.
Morning Tai Chi... ( yesterday )

Breakfast for me, noonish, was some hot out of the oven bread that Dahn made with butter...
The highlight of the morning , thus far, has been Ryan and Kian catching the snapping turtle that has been menacing the lake here. The toes and fingers of everyone thank them
They are now talking turtle soup..... really.
