INAUGURAL LUNCHEON


After the ceremony all the powers that be gathered in Statuary Hall,  in the Capitol for the traditional luncheon. My Senator, Chuck Schumer was the head of the committee that hosts the event. The menu was chosen by Congressional spouses.

The flowers, you cant tell here, but are very bright orange, very festive.
THE MENU

First Course
  • Steamed Lobster with New England Clam Chowder Sauce
  • Sauteed Spinach
  • Sweet Potato Hay
  • Tierce Finger Lakes Dry Riesling (2010)
Second Course
  • Hickory Grilled Bison with Red Potato Horseradish Cake and Wild Huckleberry Reduction
  • Butternut Squash Puree
  • Baby Golden Beets and Green Beans
  • Red Cabbage with Strawberry Preserves
  • Bedell Cellars Merlot ( 2009 )
Third Course
  • Hudson Valley Apple Pie with Sour Cream Ice Cream, Aged Cheese and Honey Maple Caramel Sauce.
  • Artisan Cheeses ( also from Upstate New York!! )
  • Korbel Natural , Special Inaugural Curee California Champagne

 The First Lady removed her wonderful Thom Browne Coat to reveal a Thom Brown matching dress. She added, as she always does and there is just nothing at all we can do about it , a Reed Krakoff cardigan and boots. I love it .
 When I find something about Dr. Biden's dress, I will share. It is pretty, IF a tiny bit sparkly... 

Such an amazing day.
