A WEEKEND IN THE BERKSHIRES
CROSSING THE HUDSON |
It was out good pals Jack and Linda's big 50th wedding anniversary, so we - on a gameday weekend! - headed east to their other hometown of Sheffield Mass to the weekend long celebration. We stayed one town over ( five miles ) in Great Barrington, I took crazy bad photos - none really, of what turned out to be a pretty fun party.
.
We had the game on the radio on the ride over , which was very much some throw back fun, cant tell you the last time I only listened to a game. I very much enjoyed it, but we were in our huge motel room by about the half, so we watched it there.
Saturday afternoon evening was a big sort of community wide cook out picnic for a lot of folks, very few of which did I know - and that is why the photos are just so bad - I am not at all comfortable taking pictures of total strangers, even in this setting. We were in the town park in a giant pavilion thing - kids running around playing all sorts of ball, people gave speeches, some sang songs, it really was fun. Some friends that they have had for over 50 years were there, but everyone made us feel very welcome
basic picnic fare - but good.
The next day, and this time with no photos was a brunch at their house for family and out of town guests, which was very enjoyable - but just not a setting to take photos. ( odd for me )
This is such a beautiful part of the planet, and really we were one or maybe two weekends off from peak fall leaf season, so just a spectacular ride.
This whole area is very old, just one of the beautiful houses around.
Crossing back over to go home.
