OPEN WINDOW PASSED

From SPIN Magazine : Scott McCaughey’s band the Minus 5, which often features former R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck, played at the 40 Watt Club in Athens, Georgia on Tuesday night. On this evening, however, the lineup included two additional special guests: R.E.M. bassist Mike Mills and drummer Bill Berry, who joined to play a Michael Stipe-less version of “Superman,” from 1986’s Lifes Rich Pageant.
R.E.M. broke up in 2011. Berry left the band in 1997, though he appeared with them sparingly over the years. This isn’t the first time they’ve done an almost-reunion at the 40 Watt Club—the same guys got together in 2013 to do “(Don’t Go Back to) Rockville.”
