in the beginning

Let's start off with a fact. Jesus himself could come back to Atlanta this week, and it would be the second story on the six o'clock news. Hype meet world, and welcome to the 2012 SEC play-off.

" Now , Y'all act like you have been here before "

We were here last year, and in 2002, 2003 and 2005, winning in two and five - but not like this. The winner of this game, the SEC champion will go on to face the beloved Irish of Notre Dame in the BCS Championship game in Miami on January 7th. Simple task, beat college footballs two most successful dynasties and get a ring!

Here is where we are , the final regular season game of 2012. Chaos averted by the much beloved Irish of Notre Dame beating the always over rated USC Trojans.

  1. Notre Dame
  2. ALABAMA
  3. GEORGIA
  4. FLORIDA
  5. Oregon
  6. Kansas State
  7. LSU
  8. Stanford
  9. TEXAS A&M
  10. SOUTH CAROLINA
  11. Oklahoma
  12. Nebraska
  13. Florida State
  14. Clemson
  15. Oregon State
  16. UCLA
  17. Kent State ( really, they have a football team ? )
  18. Texas *
  19. Michigan
  20. Boise State
  21. Northern Illinois
  22. Northwestern
  23. Oklahoma State
  24. Utah State
  25. San Jose State
* Texas spends 300 zillion dollars on college football, they have their own private tv network - its as bit as a program gets - and they are out ranked by Kent State.....

The SEC had a good weekend. All three of the SEC / ACC inter state matchups went to the SEC with UGA, SC and the hatedgators all winning. Six of the top 10 teams!

MUCH BIGGER THAN SLICED BREAD

The last time UGA was this close to being #1 in the land was Jan 1 1983, when they were number one. Facing the #2 Penn State Nittney Lions in New Orleans... things did not go well. I was there but it's all a bit of a haze. Don't spend New Years Day eating raw oysters and drinking bloody bulls with Lucretia  Roddenberry if you want to remember much of a football game.....
But, on this Monday morning , we are one win away from being that #2 going into the game to face the #1... and we tend to do well against Notre Dame.
