The Day the Gays Blew Up the Internet.

Seemed like such an average Saturday when we woke up this morning.

Starting off the day with the little resort town of Eureka Springs Arkansas, like I said, starting issuing marriage license to the many couples that were lined up when the office opened.
From the AP : An Arkansas clerk issued the state's first gay marriage license on Saturday, breaking a barrier that voters put in place with a constitutional amendment 10 years ago. Carroll County Deputy Clerk Jane Osborn issued a license Saturday morning to Kristin Seaton, 27, and Jennifer Rambo, 26, of Fort Smith. They had slept in a Ford Focus after arriving in Eureka Springs at 2 a.m. Saturday and were the first of about 10 couples to line up outside of the courthouse before it opened. When the license was issued, Rambo said, "Thank God." Seaton and Rambo, who have been together four years, then held a marriage ceremony on the courthouse steps. A woman in a rainbow dress officiated.

Then early in the afternoon everyone's favorite gender queer bearded drag queen, Austrian Conchita Wurst took home the 2014 Eurovision prize for best song. This contest is HUGE in Europe and the Middle East. ( See ABBA '74)
I'm sure the vast majority are all wtf with this one, but more than just a contest , this was ALL of civilized Europe giving Putin's Russia a massive middle finger for his anti gay / civil rights stand.  The rules of Eurovision are a total cluster  - I am no where near big enough a fan to even come near understand. Here is her winning song.
First little Arkansas, then all of Europe.

Then this:

The St. Louis Rams draft The University of Missouri's Michael Sam

Let's just get it out of the way right off the bat, y'all know this makes me all the uncomfortable - JUST like watching all those big old burly straight boys boo hooing their eyes out there in Radio City did. I'm just way to waspy/Victorian - but that is totally my problem.

This is ESPN - the man cave of macho - this is live tv. This is a young man who just got drafted into the NFL falling , crying into the arms of the boyfriend that he loves and giving him the kiss heard round the world. This is history for us on a level that is hard to match. Like I have said many times, it is easy for the right wing to hate " the gays " it is really hard to hate Michael Sam and his all too cute little elfish boyfriend.

It is the shadow and shame that have always been lgbt Americas enemy, when we take our light, when we do not fear the shadows and feel no shame - like many have said today, there is nothing we can not do. He is such a brave young man - he did not have to do this , at all - but he understood and was surrounded by people who believed in him, loved him - that NOT being who he was, not being with the man he loves - was unthinkable. This is new.

I do not think of myself as old, but in my lifetime the world has changed. Hell, in the last 10 years the world has changed and for the better.

So much more to come on this , and in Arkansas - We were just giddy this afternoon, and I am sure there will be a little " cold hard light of morning " coming. He may not make the team after being drafted, happens all the time to great college players, its just a different game. Some judge in Arkansas WILL issue a stay come Monday I'm sure. But for today, for this " One brief shining moment ".....

Hello, love! Just wanted to pass along that photographer Grav Weldon took the photo of that marriage license, not the AP. It's cool -- he's distributing it freely and wants to get out the word. Would you mind linking back to his Instagram account where he released the image, please? Thanks so much -- it's http://instagram.com/p/n0io6JgODJ/
