A LOVELY Spring day!

The first really nice , warm sunny day of the year!

The green is coming out in force

lots of flowers in Neil's garden
Way to pretty NOT to cook out!
a re-recipe, but a Summer time favorite:

METHODIST BEANS!
6 strips of bacon
Bacon drippings
1 rib celery, chopped
1 medium onion, chopped

( I up the veggies and added a carrot )
1 lb. Ground beef
1 can baked beans (Bush's? large)
3 T. Brown sugar
2 t. Worcestershire sauce
2 t. Coleman’s mustard (dry)
1 cup of ketchup
salt and pepper to taste

Fry the bacon, set aside to drain. Brown the onions and celery in bacon drippings. Remove the vegatables and brown the beef in the same fat. Stir with a fork to make the meat particles separate. Return the onion and celery to the pan. Add the crumbled bacon, beans and the remaining ingredients. Bake in a casserole for about 45 minutes at 375 degrees. This may be prepared well ahead of time and baked before serving.
