You Bet'cha!
It's MINNESOTA !!
Koda and I spent all of the afternoon locked into the Minnesota Senate same sex debate - I don't think I had done an entire one before. No in and out, just here paying attention. It started at one pm here on the east coast and ended , I think, five thrityish .
Yeah, really more me than Koda - he would sort of wander in about every hour - bring me a sock or a found shoe - just making sure that I was not ready to go for a good walk.
NOTHING new at all in any of the argument - boiling down to freedom via love or God hates fags . There is that whole straw man of " a child needs a mother and a father ", but I can not for the life of me make that oddly square peg fit into any round hole. In the end, it was pretty much a done deal from the get go - but I enjoyed the debate. On to the Governor's desk - he already said he would sign it, then law!
So that is TWELVE States : lets do a little math
States w/ Marriage Equality
- Connecticut - 3,590,347
- Delaware - 917,092
- Iowa - 3,074,186
- Maine - 1,329,192
- Maryland - 5,884,563
- Massachusetts - 6,646,144
- New Hampshire - 1,320,718
- New York - 19,570,216
- Rhode Island - 1,050,292
- Vermont - 626,011
- Washington - 6,897,012
- Washington DC - 632,323
- Minnesota - 5,379,139
57,037,254
Or 18+ % of the country.......
I'm not exactly sure what this means in the bigger picture, but you add California to this list, if the Supreme Court overturns prop 8 - and it bumps up to 30 + %. Illinois could be in the mix, but they are running out of time there - with the Court ruling coming down in like six weeks....
