The hunt for postseason play came down to the wire for the Twins Triple-A affiliate, but the Wings clinched a playoff berth with a win Monday, coupled with a Norfolk Tides loss.
The Tides, the Baltimore Orioles Triple-A affiliate, lost a 1-0 game to the Durham Bulls in 10 innings Tuesday. Rochester, meanwhile, beat Scranton/Wilkes-Barre 13-3 to win the Wild Card.
The Pawtucket Red Sox had already clinched the International League's North Division.
Scott Diamond pitched 7 innings of three-run ball, and the Red Wings hung nine runs on the board in the first inning Monday.
WHAT FUN! First time the WINGS have made the playoffs since 2006! This should be fun .
