THE MORNING AFTER BRUNCH

Cooked Mostly by Kyle 80 - 100 people
( I kept a house guest of ours awake banging around the kitchen all night )

I had lots of help the morning of MANY thanks to those kitchen elves!

Held in a big tent in the newly refurbished Gandell back yard,
where the rehearsal dinner was on Friday night
Coffee and Doughnuts
Mimosas
Bloodies
Tiny ham biscuits from Dahns aunt in South Carolina
re-used the lovely flowers from last night
The new fire pit and conversation wall
Seven in her party dress - the belle of the ball!

For some reason I was picturing a sort of day long drop in relaxing party - no, everyone at once and eat everything in a hurry - but we were all ready, backups at hand.

Menu

  • Beef Tenderloin w/ rolls ( went in a flash )
  • Sausage, Bacon and Onion Breakfast Strata
  • Swiss Chard and Tomato Breakfast Strata ( I thought this was really good  )
  • Curried Rice Salad
  • Grits Bar
  • Cool Wegmans Bread with butter and Jams
  • Fruit
  • Granola and Yogurt

This meat was so yummy
Made two large of each of these -
I used swiss chard just because it takes so much spinach to make this,
it was very good and will do so again

This GRITS "recipe " is Great
and easy as can be.

Use your slow cooker to make super easy and creamy grits. They cook while you sleep and are ready to be put on the breakfast table when you wake up.
Recipe type: Side Dish
Serves: 8
Ingredients
  • 1½ cups stone ground grits
  • 6 cups water
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • THIS IS IT I x2 twice and almost ran out they were so good.
  • 4-6 tablespoons butter, cut into 1 tablespoon-sized pieces
  • ½ cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
  • freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  1. Lightly spray inside of a 6-quart crockpot with cooking spray.
  2. Stir together grits, salt and water in the crockpot. Cover and cook on LOW for 7-8 hours.
  3. Remove lid. Scatter butter on top. Use a whisk to stir the grits until they are an even consistency and the butter has melted.
  4. Sprinkle cheese on top and add pepper to taste.
