leaf peeping

We are still yellow....

Mother always said you can tell a lady by her hands *

Todd Akin, you know; the ass wipe of a human being, who went all " Women's bodies know when they are being LEGITIMATELY RAPED - and put up a wall  down there to keep from getting pregnant ". Remember him ? He is the GOP/Teabagger running for Senate in Missouri against Clarie McCaskill.

So, they had their first Senate debate the other night , and Senator McCaskill came out swinging at this idiot - taking no prisoners! Which just shocked and appalled the delicate nature of Mr. Akin!
Awaking from his faint, the smell of salts still strong  in the air, the frail Mr. Akin told the Charlotte Observer  “I think we have a very clear path to victory, and apparently Claire McCaskill thinks we do, too, because she was very aggressive at the debate, which was quite different than it was when she ran against Jim Talent. She had a confidence and was much more ladylike (in 2006), but in the debate on Friday she came out swinging, and I think that’s because she feels threatened."

Yes, she was not LADYLIKE enough for him in their debate...full story HERE

If you read these things, if you use the Twitter - the follow ME!

I really don't know what I do next... nor if one has to check in on the twitter page every day - of if they show up someplace else.

grain of salt ?

BRAND NEW WATERS / Land of the lost

As the now GOP vilified David Brooks pointed out this weekend that the Emperor was as nekkid as a jay bird! There has never been a Presidential candidate as disliked as Governor Mitt " Money Boo Boo Child " Romney.
bad screen capture
" Train Wreck" , " catastrophe ", " worst ever " all words and phrases being thrown around . And, then this morning a little icing on the cake for Mitt and the Blonds:

Now, take these niche polls with that grain of salt - unless they are at some big race asking folks. I am not even sure who what when where the average NASCAR fan is. AND, I don't think this is saying that they love/like/tolerate the President, just that Gov. Romney is THAT weak....

the new math

President Obama draws 18,000 in Wisconsin
while 650 show up for Romney in California

This is a headline from one of my many uber liberal reads of the day, and I can not really find another source saying 18k, ( found one that said 12+ )
SO, I am just going to go with it.

FALL !!

brrr!

dinner and more

Roasted Turkey
Brussles Sprouts
w/ Mustard and Lemon
Last of the Summer Tomatoes
Eggplant and Squash

KNOW YOUR FALL VEGETABLES:
BRUSSLES SPROUTS!

  1. Ususually like a smaller / younger brussels sprouts, but these are from the Mendon Market, I did not want to go to Wegmans. Any size is really fine to cook like this
  2. cut off woody bottom part/stem and cut in half. ( if for some odd reason you are going to do these steps and cook late - put in a little acidulated water )
  3. render one ( or more ) pieces of Bacon - slowly - you want all the fat , if only one, add a little bit of olive oil...
  4. place the sprouts, cut side down in the fat and let them just fry. Medium heat - for a good 3-4 min, you want some caramelization.
  5. put in a good heaping tablespoon of dijon mustard and maybe a 1/4 cup of water, salt and pepper ( be careful of the salt, you have the bacon fat )... let it cook down, then cover to steam - as long as you like your brussels sprouts cooked, add a good squeeze of lemon juice
  6. serve with the crumbled bacon.

WEEK 4

DONE
48 - 3
( and it really was not as close as this score makes it out to be )

Crazy football day, ALL the big games at night, so my mind drifted this morning, usually not a good thing.
  • THE Western Orange Tigers gave the Purple Tigers a scare - ALL the talk of how sucky Auburn was this season and they take the #2 team in the country down to the wire. ( UGA knows NEVER to over look Auburn )
  • The ClemPsons are falling apart late after really hanging in with FSU most of the game - We needed the Eastern Orange Tigers to win.
  • Stupid Tech found a way to lose in overtime in Atlanta - Stupid Tech.

cake

A little late Friday night politics

Some week, huh?

I am confused, seriously.
What exactly are we , am I , supposed to do with MATH
like this, a less than 100 days out ?

Yeah, it's like that.

AND ! Here is the really funny part of this  - the 47% disaster is not really showing up in these polls yet!  Mitt " Money Boo Boo Child " Romney came roaring out of Tampa as flat as a pancake. Duller than toast , yesterdays news. All anyone was talking about was crazy old Clint and his chair.
POTUS got the big , crazy big, post convention bump - with that speech that just all the DC talking heads HATED! - and where it did calm down some... unbumped, as it were - it didn't deflate all that much. Nate breaks his polls down into two: Now and Then.
Now is - well, now. Then is November 6th - and YES, those numbers are different - still a landslide win for the President , but this today, this crazy ass number just threw me. How exactly do you wrap your head around Mitt Romney running for President for the better part of the last decade. Having spent millions and millions and millions of dollars. ALL the items in the " why the President should not be re-elected" column - and yet : 4.6%
4.6%
Yall if you go by what Nate is saying , and goodness knows I do. Mitts and the Blonds are not even taking the entirety of the Mormon vote!

Huffpo to me is a very stodgy poll. Slow to change, very careful in its numbers.
This morning.
Dark blue - and lots of it

Those rats leaving that sinking ship need to be careful, there is blood in the water and sharks out the wah-zoo

" With less than seven weeks to go before the presidential election, former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty is leaving his job as co-chairman of the Mitt Romney campaign to take a top Washington lobbying job.
Pawlenty, 51, will become the next CEO of the Financial Services Roundtable, whose 100 members include many of the nation's largest banks and insurance and securities companies."
Yeah - it's been that kind of week - but wait , there's more:

Late September, 2012 and
Jindall, Christie and Santorum  are all TODAY in freaking IOWA.
That is some hard core GOP loyalty!.

dinner

Grilled Chicken
Green Beans
Cauliflower / Carrots

This is good right ? AND, the thing is, it's a very big deal. Kyle's not so happy eating disorder ALWAYS came out when Neil was out of town - batten down the hatches. This time, calm as a cucumber - a nice healthy dinner! Progress!

d.k.

After a stormy morning the clouds broke and
off we went for our walk....
just over the last road home, about 3/4 mile away
the clouds came back all angry....

We had to double time it home,
but we made it

SIT DOWN TO WATCH THIS - really- and you may need some smelling salts or at least some pearls to clasp.

WITH OUT A DOUBT !!!!  THE BEST POLITICAL AD THAT EVER HAS BEEN OR  EVER WILL BE .
THIS JUST MAY CHANGE YOUR LIFE :

Yall KNOW my weakness for the Bartlett administration - and this just shows us how they would all look as they get ready to win their fourth term. A GIFT !

coming out of the closet to roost?

Just as I was going to bed last night a blogger buddy posted this story:

From the Chicago Phoenix ( the Chicago lgbt paper )

After months of negotiations with Ald. Proco “Joe” Moreno over its anti-gay positions and donations, Chick-fil-A has agreed to cease donations from its non-profit charity to anti-gay organizations and issued a company-wide internal mandate calling for the equal treatment of all employees and customers, the alderman said.
WinShape, a non-profit funded by the College Park, Ga.-based chicken chain, has donated millions of dollars to anti-LGBT organizations — some classified hate groups — including Focus on the Family, according to The Civil Rights Agenda, which worked with Moreno and company executives in an advisory capacity as they negotiated to adopt new policies.
“At Chick-fil-A, we have a genuine commitment to hospitality for all of our guests. We have no agenda, policy or position against anyone,” said Steve Robinson, executive vice president of marketing in statement to Chicago Phoenix. “The genuine, historical intent of our WinShape Foundation and corporate giving has been to support youth, family and educational programs. We value everyone and strive to treat all people with a caring spirit.”
Chick-fil-A serves and values everyone regardless of their beliefs or opinions, Robinson said. The company made similar statements on its Facebook page in mid-July — before the controversy erupted over comments made by Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy, in which he reiterated the company’s support for marriage between a man and woman and his opposition to same-sex marriage.
“This is a win for the LGBT community,” Moreno said in a statement provided by TCRA. “This is a win for everyone who works for the cause of equal rights, and a win for Chick- fil-A. This is a win for all.”  ( FULL STORY  )

WHAAAA?

Woke up this morning to the story busting out all over the place, happy little postings and twittering. All of gaydom doing - yes - the Chicken Dance.
But wait rainbow warriors.
As of late tonight there was NOT A PEEP from the good folks down in Forrest Park/ College Park / Hapeville BUT! Not a peep in either way. Not A peep saying that Truitt now 's the gays NOR a statement saying "NOPE, STILL A HATER".

So what to take from this , and I mean really, the story went totally main stream today, many big papers picking it up NYT story HERE. Saying that what the Georgia based company has done is this: “Chick-fil-A: Who We Are” to emphasize that the chain, which has more than 1,600 stores, will “treat every person with honor, dignity and respect — regardless of their beliefs, race, creed, sexual orientation and gender.”

What is is looking like is that Chic Fil A has done a complete 180 - have yet to hear the screams from the righties, but expect it soon

The 47 %

The tee vee and the internets have exploded today over this few months old tape of Mitts being Mitts at some rich folk Pow-Wow in Boca and going all street on the 47% of the country that he does not care about and will never vote for him.

"There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that’s an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what…These are people who pay no income tax."

Yeah, this one was pretty easy.
The red states: the highest number of folks that don't pay any taxes!

Read David Brooks' NYT Column from yesterday.
