said it's GREAT to BE.....

Welcome to the SEC !

.
DONE
41 - 20

A fun game, not a huge fan of 7:45 kick offs - just makes for an odd day, but winning like this, I'll take them every time! NOT a pretty first half, but eveybody knows that we are a second half team.

This was the second meeting of the Dawgs and Mo Tigers, the first the
1960 Orange Bowl, which UGA also won with  - yes - Fran Tarkington as qb!

Georgia 14 Missouri 0
The nation was first introduced to quarterback Fran Tarkenton in the '60 Orange Bowl Classic, as the Georgia senior used his scrambling ability to lead his team to a 14-0 win over Missouri.
Tarkenton threw for two touchdowns on broken plays and completed nine of 16 passes for 131 yards. In the first quarter he threw 29 yards to sophomore halfback Bill McKenney for a 7-0 Georgia lead, and in the third, he scrambled free again and found end Aaron Box open on a 33-yard scoring strike. Missouri Coach Dan Devine praised Tarkenton lavishly, but he also said the hard-knocking Georgia defense was a big factor.
Missouri, which broke Oklahoma's grip on the Big Seven championship, led in total yardage, 264 to 223, but couldn't get across the goal line as three interceptions stopped potential scoring drives.
Georgia head coach Wally Butts coached his last Bulldog game.

The University of Missouri or MIZZOU  as you are told many many many times is in Columbia, Mo. Making it the most northern school in the SEC - does it snow there in the late fall? That could be interesting in years to come.
The seemed like perfectly lovely people, their fans were very into the game, and really they can not help that their school picked a really harsh color all those years ago - they call it GOLD , but its really more of an bright orangy yellow.

The AJC sports guy says that these were for sale in the UM bookstore. It's nice to be important, but it's important to be nice.

classy!
Shocker of the night was that the Arkansas Razorbacks freaking lost in overtime to the U of Louisiana MONROE WarHawks :
giving AU someone to look down on!
