art+beat

The records are about to fall!
Right now, sitting atop your most money every paid by a Russian Oligarch for a painting is :
Pablo Picasso
Nude, Green Leaves and Bust
oil on canvas
March 8th,1932
A pretty darn exciting providence, bought in 1951 Mrs. Sidney F. Brody daughter of Albert D Lasker ( read the whole thing here, very cool ). Was only seen in public one time until May 4th 2010 when it sold for :
106,482,500
Surely to all that is Holy the most ever to be paid for a painting

This coming Tuesday Night,
Sothbey's Annual Art Auction
The Scream (Norwegian: Skrik) is a series of Expressionist paintings and prints created by Norwegian artist Edvard Munchbetween 1893 and 1910, showing an agonized figure against a red sky. The landscape in the background is the Oslofjord, viewed from EkebergOslo.
Evidently there are four of these, who knew. And one...."  A fourth version (1895), in pastel, is owned by Norwegian businessman Petter Olsen, and will be offered at auction on May 2, 2012.[1] Experts estimate that the painting could sell for as much as [$150 - 200] million.
So, its not even a painting, its a pastel ? 200 mil. The above is just an online copy, this is the real picture up for sale on Tuesday
