Fried Green Tomatoes

At least here, in almost Canada, this is the time of year for green tomatoes. Summer comes to a fast end this far north, and a lot of the tomatoes just don't have time to make it all the way red - so lots of them at the farm stand

SLICE
A little less than half an inch - not too thin - but thin enough to cook through out with out burning. Season lightly there - salt and pepper - old bay if you like.

THE MESSY PART
Green Bowl : well seasoned flour. Salt, Pepper, Garlic Powder, Chili Powder - really what ever you like
White Bowl : two eggs , cup-ish of buttermilk
Pink Bowl : Italian Seasoned Panko , or plain- little bit ( to taste ) of Cayenne, Paprika
Dredge in the flour - then to the wet mixture - the butter milk egg mixture is wonderfully thick and coats well, straight into the bread crumbs, coat well

A lot of people like a corn meal / flour mix but the panko gives it a great crunch
ready to fry!

Fry lightly , watch your heat
Drain on paper towels
A more ambitious Kyle would have whipped up a little buttermilk dressing, but I just went with salsa.
