Garden Party Week '15

About twenty turns out all ladies from the , I think , Fairport garden club came over to our house for a little nosh, some wine and a tour of Neil's just a hair past peak garden this afternoon. I have no idea how this came about , but it had been in the works for a nice long time. They were going to come over here - do their thing, and then go have dinner and their meeting around the corner at The Mendon House.

We provide snacks and they would buy us dinner - Win Win!

  •  deviled eggs
  • tiny double stuffed potatoes - some with bacon sails
  • Caprese Salad on a stick
  • Crudite

This was way fun and easy to do. Marinate some cubed fresh mozz- cut it yourself SO much cheaper than the little balls - in olive oil, a little lemon zest and juice, salt pepper and A LOT of fresh basil. A couple of hours. I wanted the bamboo skewers with the knot on the top, but could not find them so these did just fine. After marinating stick them on the stick and stick into anything - I used a purple cabbage. Everyone loved these, and they were tasty

They brought the wine, I made some half and half tea/lemonaid

It was a beautiful afternoon and they really enjoyed all Neil's hard work/

They were all just as nice as they could be

After about an hour and a half - it was time to hop over to Mendon's fancy restaurant!
Our good pal Sharon is visiting for Garden Party Week '15 and came along with us
A very yummy salad as you can tell - but I was hungry after a long days work
This was SO GOOD - Ive been here a few times , and this was by far the best meal Ive ever had here. We were a large group, so a limit choice that was made before you got there. So happy I got the salmon. It was in - I think a brown sugar burbon glaze - or something. It was crusty charged sweet , but with an edge of something - served over a very nice risotto and this killer grilled tomato in the same sauce - very good!

A meal so nice I am posting it twice.

Neil had Chicken Something which he really enjoyed
Sort of a summer fool for dessert - nice after so much food

Then Neil have a nice talk on what they had all seen in his garden and the care and feeding of irises.

Such a nice group and supper - a great way to start the week .
