Chick-Fil-A and Proverbs 25:21

I have sort of stayed clear of this one. It was absolutely not news to me that Truitt and his klan were obsessive Baptists. Maybe it is because I am from Georgia, lived for years on the Southside of town. Brenda or Jodi/Jenny/Celia was in love with some high up Chic-fil-a guy in college - or he became that after school, what ever - the point being, I have all ways known about this company's politics.
I'm a taco bell / Del Taco guy, so I never really cared that much...

But, what is totally fascinating to me about this story IS the backlash. That people were shocked - and are making a stand. Mayors of Chicago and Boston, college kids all over the country wanting them off their campus' etc.
Just a snap shot of where we are in 2012....

Really? I rely on your for homo facts I don't know. Where are the links to the real true facts so I don't have to research them myself?

From what I know about this one, I'm about to side with everyone who says this kind of gotcha activism blows everything out of proportion.

a) CFA has never hidden the fact that Christian principles are very important to running the business. Hello! They're closed on Sunday even though they lose millions doing it!

b) Has something new happened besides Bubba Cathy saying he's Baptist and Baptists don't bless same-sex marriages? Because that's old news to me.

c) CFA funds Winshape, and Winshape does a bunch of Christian stuff that leaves out people who don't believe what they believe. But does Winshape go out and proselytize against homosexuality or even gay marriage? Not that I've seen.

d) CFA is one of the most local community minded franchises I know of. They are good neighbors. It is as much a part of their culture as being closed on the Lord's day. Go ask your local manager to support a local school or church or fundraising event and I'll bet s/he will do so.

Now do your job and give me the info I need to hate Chick-fil-A, Kipper!

No one has to hate Chic-fil-a. Gaia knows I can not take some queer anti Christian stand.... CFA is no different than they have ever been - it is the times that are different. For the 10th time - this is not news to me - eat at chick fil a - take their money, it does not in any way matter.
The much larger story here is the fact that it is such a controversy - and that is is, more or less the Christians with their backs agains the wall.
and it is so totally not the wacky queer youth that are getting all up in arms, the right is using this just as much.

This will not let go of my brain this morning....
You never know , really - what any company does with its money. Like I said someplace, Wegmans could start funding the American Nazi party and I am pretty sure I would still be there - they do give tons of money to two local Catholic Colleges - and no one on the planet is more anti gay than the RC church.
That said..... Truitt never did what Dan did - HE chose this battle, not the left , the gays , what ever... and he chose to do it in an election year, when the countries rhetoric is already overheated.
Yes - it is a very Christian privately held company taking an anti gay stand - and people are ok with that?
Like I always do, substitute the word black for gay and would you still be - the EXACT same " traditional marriage " argument was used in a pre - Loving /Va world.
Does this make them poor corporate citizens in 2012 America - ......... the only answer I have is yes.
But I l live in a bubble with a MUCH different form of Christianity....

Yes, it's a different age, and in a hurry. I will admit to a tiny ironic snort when I heard Emanuel say CFA's "values didn't represent" Chicago's values. Seemed a bit off to this Cobb County resident.

But if the facts don't matter don't matter and the good guys are playing the gotcha game, too, I'm out.
