What better way to spend a snowy Winter afternoon than six hours of Wagner Opera about Jesus . Well, not really about Jesus - about faith ? Very hard to explain, but very enjoyable - challenging. Just got into my head. Weird sort of post apocalyptic setting - usually all out King Aurthur.. totally fit , letting the music, which is beautiful, soaring, personal take center stage.
The NYT found it bleak...more than a little bit in love with ole Percy here...and yes, that is sort of a lake of blood with lots of stripper poles.. you kind of had to be there.
I say this every time, but if the MET in HD is shown at a movie near you , JUST GO... This was one of the better ones for me,that said it was way WAY " out there"...
