FROZEN

Last night on both the NBC Nightly News and the PBS Newshour, stories ran on how Niagara Falls was all frozen! Both had photos of lots of ice - and we decided to ride over and take a look.

Neil and Kyle

The Canadian side is not really frozen AT the falls - but beneath is nothing but huge - 10 story ? mountains of ice - and then just ice all the way down the river.

These ice slabs are HUGE - 10 - 12 feet high - it is really hard to tell because you are looking down from so high above - its just the broken up parts of the river that pile up on one another and re-freeze. It is just an amazing site, and pretty rare - it has to be very cold for a very long time for this to happen.
It just looked out of this world.

The American Falls are very close to being totally frozen over.. the giant hill of ice has little mini waterfalls all inside of it.

So very happy that we rode over today.
