THE Ohio State University.

First unanimous #1 in preseason in 4 million years or something like that . The hype growing to def con 10 with a bizarre Monday night college football game , Urban Meyer's Golden Buckeyes traveling down to Blacksburg, Va - to face the once mighty Va Tech Hokies.

Started out a little bit of a rout - then Va Tech fought back a little  - only in the end to be pretty much embarrassed 42 - 24 , and it was not that close. Ohio State looked like a #1 team - and that is hard for any Bulldawg to write.

Thing is - unlike all SEC teams, Ohio State does not play really anyone. The next three weeks are :

  •  9-12 Hawaii at Home
  • 9-19 Nothern Illinois at home
  • 9 - 26 Western Michigan at home
Safe to say that by week 4 Ohio State will still be atop the polls.

  • 10 -3 Indiana in Bloomington, IN
  • 10 -10 Maryland at home
  • 10 - 17 Penn State ( we are! ) at home. Which you think might mean something, and I know , I know any given Sunday, but Penn State lost to Temple this past weekend for the first time since like the Hoover administration .
  • 10 - 24 University of New Jersey Rutgers in Piscataway - This could be a close one....
  • 10 - 31 Giving the lads and their cool band Halloween off.
Starting off November probably in 1st place

  • 11 -7 Minnesota at home
  • 11- 14 Illinois in Illinois
and then with who knows what all has gone on in the rest of college football we come down to the two weeks that will make or break Ohio States fate - they can lose one and will still be in the play - off.

  •  11- 21 #5 ( now ) Michigan State in Columbus. GAME OF THE CENTURY, NEVER IN THE HISTORY OF SPORT.... you get the picture.
  • 11 - 28 The classic Michigan / Ohio State game this year in the BIG HOUSE.
Again, Ohio State can lose one of these and if undefeated this late in the year, will not drop out of the top 4 needed to be in the play off games.

There is a BIG 10 Championship game - or at least they say there is.
