"The Craighead-Saunders Organ is the result of a six-year international research project on the processes of 18th centuary organ building and is a reconstruction of Adam Gottlob Casparini's 1776 organ, built during the Enlightenment Era in Europe, for the Holy Ghost Church in Vilnius , Lithuania. This two -manual thirty three stop 1776 recreation will undoubtedly renew organ music perspectives and appreciation to all of North America."
It's big! We had to go to some sort of swearing in this morning at Christ Church in downtown Rochester. I had not seen the organ in a few months. It just looks amazing. It is a project of the Eastman School of Music here in Rochester and the church is darn lucky to have it. After the service we got a tour of the workings . It really is built like a 1776 organ. It works with GIANT pumps! We went back there and pumped them! If the electricity goes out, it still works!
