Countdown...

Our extended Fall has been masking the fact that Thanksgiving is just around the corner!
So, let's start kicking around a few ideas.

First up , in what I hope will be a series comes from Mrs. Regina Charboneau of Natchez, Mississippi  via the New York Times.

A very good look into her families massive Turkey day celebration. One recipe that really caught my eye was this very simple preparation for sweet potatoes.

Select the prettiest sweet potatoes you can find, scrub well, coat with olive oil and salt and coarse ground black pepper - roast low and slow for an hour plus. ( a little trick is NOT to over roast, it causes the potatoes to sort of cave in, its a thin line between perfect and over - start checking at 1 hour - then every 5 or 6 min )
Take out of the over, slice in half, a dollop of Sour Cream and some JalapeƱo-Cranberry Chutney!
