FASHION !
After a somewhat questionable first trip to Europe for our First Lady, Michelle's gays are back from the White Party , or where ever they were. She stole the show last night at the TIME 100 party. This is close to perfection. She is wearing a Azzedine Alaïa dress and a Peter Sorenon corset. I wish I could find a better pic, but she is more viral than Miss Cally today ( thank FSM !). So, I'm sure there will be some. Feat not , readers. The end of red carpet season does not mean the end of being able to judge very rich thin women for just their appearance. THIS is AMERICA!.
Let's start with a bottom of the 9th grand slam:
Here are a couple of other links with pics. PRG boys./ Huffpo.
Last Monday was the 2009 Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala. ( link ) Real fashion, non-red carpet. The over the top famous types with what is left of the NYC moneyed set, post Apocalypse. The Met is a SERIOUS storehouse of American fashion and NOT just for the Nan Kempner Collection. ( but lets face it , all else pales in comparison).
Let's discuss a just a few.
- The Good :
Tyra Banks in Badgely Mischka pre-fall 2009
Posh, but just for the shoes...
Claudia Schiffer in Atelier Versace Spring 2009 Couture
and the winner is Dalton grad and one time Yale student, Claire Danes in Armani Prive' ( but I would have lost the bow thing..)
- THE BAD
Jessica Alba, what? did she run in Loeman's on the way to the event and pic up something on the half off rack?
and sadly, and surprisingly , our Miss Brooks.... ummm, a little less linebackery next time, and ... don't go to the make-up guy that is mad at you.
- and the one that everyone is talking about:
Material mom herself, Madonna.
Laugh all the way to the ink factory, this "outfit" got more press than everyone else combined. Ridiculously too young for her, does not go with the boots ( which alone are fantastic) and.. lord, she has a skunk sittin on top of her head . But, the smartest woman on the planet knows the way to get the 40m for her new Upper East Side townhouse is to GET TALKED ABOUT. Let's face it, she's Madonna.
