Dinner with guests!

The farmstand is really getting low,
October and all.
 BRISKET!
Even better than just pain old brisket, it was Winder brisket!
  • slice an onion and put it in the bottom of a large, heavy pan, with a cover. I have a big LeCreuset one. Not deep like a stew pot.( this step was not in the original recipe, I just like something between the meat and the bottom of the pan.
  • put your meat on top of the onion.
  • Take a can of coke, pour over the meat. ( I used most of a single size bottle)
  • add one package of onion soup mix
  • recipe calls for granulated garlic, which I didn't have, so I used a LOT of just whole garlic cloves. ( they came out yummy)
  • TRIPLE FOIL, really , cover it well, then place the lid on
  • 350 degrees for Three hours.
comes out fork tender and moist!

The roasted butternut squash, apple, red onion thing (so darn good!)
Mashed Potatoes
Green beans with anchovies and garlic
last taste of summer tomato salad
It was a yummy supper with dear friends!

 Turn out the lights...
I had started everyone out with some tailgate munchies, deviled eggs, pimento cheese, etc... thinking we would watch the game. Dessert was a very good spicy bought Wegman's pumpkin pie!
