Nineteen Sixty Five, it was a very ... busy, year.

Are we really this close to the end? Only one more left? What a swell party its been.

Where did we start this year... way back, pre everything SCDP was riding so high, Icarus anyone: " Who is Don Draper ?"

About Last Night.

Panic abounds, but the rats are not in the mood to leave the ship. Floundering for anything at all, Heinz, Virginia Slims.. who will save us? A very rare heavy hand from the Mad Men powers that be, hitting us over the head with the Smack down, to get down to quit Lucky Strike, but it worked. Does anyone at all think that our man Don is ready for such a grown up relationship ? He and Faye seem to be headed down that road. That fabulous childless 70's couple, hanging out with Bianca, Andy and the pre 54 crew.
So many people in this one, everyone getting a little camera time. I loved the new Trudy. She downloaded baby Tammy and became the first Mama Grizzly! I need me a backyard!!
The bank of Don. From one of the zillion Mad Men blogs: "Two thoughts on this. First, Don is spending money like it's going out of style throughout this episode. I spent a lot of time playing with an online inflation calculator, and Don is willing to give Midge the modern equivalent of two grand for her painting, and ultimately gives her what would be $800 today when she needs cash and not a check to feed her habit. A full-page New York Times ad would run many tens of thousands of dollars today (possibly more for a rush like Don apparently got), and his share combined with Pete's would be close to a million dollars. Obviously, the future is very precarious and he's spending a lot to ensure that he has one, but at the same time, Don is pretty damn flush in September of '65."
Where do you think we go from here next week? I for one am firmly on the Joan is pregnant train. Rumors everywhere that Roger was going to have that last heart attack, I don't think so. I don't think that SCDP will go under... not really much of a show next season if everyone is scattered to the four winds.
One thing I do want next year is MORE BETTY!  Really Matthew Weiner, not much more 1966 that the universe that the Rockefeller's were a part of. I do hope he can figure out some way to bring all of that in. I mean come on, Sally in the late 60's... Betty will need many many trips to the hairdresser to cover all that grey.
