The college football crowd, sports writers and bloggers have become the kids from BYE BYE BIRDIE in the telephone hour, " what's the story morning glory, what's the tale nightingale..." Because The University of Colorado, has bolted the Big 12 and joined the Pac 10. Sky is falling.
Turns out it is all about television these days, and little sports mice are all a tremble at the thought of the coming " Pac 16". From the SF Chronicle: "With Nebraska perhaps poised to join the Big Ten, one possible scenario would be a 16-team Pac-10 "superconference" that would include all existing teams along with Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. That lineup would greatly strengthen the conference's leverage for new TV contracts that begin next year. The "Pac-16" could start playing football in 2012."
Tony Barnhart, Mr. College Football, over at the AJC is jumping up and down and pleading for TEXAS and TEXAS AM to join the SEC. Huh ?!? As much as we love and respect our burnt orange brothers over in Austin.... We don't need no stinkin' Longhorns in the SEC! Sure , dump Arkansas and add The Clempsons, figure out a way to get FSU into the mix.. but Texas or A&M ? I don't think so.....
Also in the news today, and added to a little bit of the mix up, is the all but SMU smack-down that the NCAA put on the WAY over hyped University of Southern California Trojans . Turns out the ( also overhyped ) Pete Carrol got out while the getting was good, and he knew it! GOOD LUCK, turncoat Lane Kiffin.... The Dooley led Vol Nation is having a good laugh today , for sure.
