From this mornings AJC : Lindbergh Varsity Jr. shutting down after 45 years"A zoning dispute with the city led to Friday's announcement, which stunned employees and customers alike. The restaurant, at Lindbergh and Cheshire Bridge Road, will close Aug. 23 " ( the rest ).
I bet it is not the same now, but .. gosh, 12, 15, 20 years ago ( kyle is old ) this was the blue haired Varsity. Giant Cadillacs and grilled cheese sandwiches with peach pies every afternoon. We went there a lot, because it was so much less crowded than the big one. This now means there will be only THE Varsity in Atlanta, and little popcorn dots of the faux ( clean/new/lily white) ones all over the northern arch of the exurbs , well and the one left in Athens .
I still remember the downtown Athens Varsity ( again, kyle is old ). I wish I could make it back down to answer the question one last time .
