Oh, Promise Me

( or Hava Nagila, with a disco beat, it's your call  )

MARRIAGE EQUALITY COMES TO
ROCHESTER , NEW YORK.

Not in theory, not on paper, but real flesh and blood,  mostly lesbians waiting in a long line in the hot ( for Upstate New York ) sun to get their marriage license!
The city government went out of their way to welcome everyone to City Hall yesterday, flying rainbow banners from all the power polls, plenty of very helpful staff out talking with people, just really making the day a true celebration.
A nice surprise walking up to City Hall, in downtown Rochester.
All the local media, couldn't sling a gay cat and not hit a clergy member of some church, just there to show support
You cant really tell from these pics, but very much a party atmosphere, music playing, folks sort of dancing around, bubbles in the air. No protesters at all, their rally of anti love was in a different part of town, at 3:00. The choice was made by the powers that be  to ignore them and just focus on the joy of the day, which is REAL easy to do after you have won, outright!

Father Michael in his work drag and his band of Two Sainters, there to hand out water, and just be good citizens of downtown, and Neil.

There was money to be made! God bless America.
The staff here at City Hall came in on a Sunday and waived any over time , just to help the couples getting married out.
My good pals Dan and Grady were on tv getting their marriage license in the little suburb of Brighton, but I have not yet been able to find the news clip online.

Todd and the Head Lesbians, Bess and Anne, along with the folks at the Downtown Presbyterian Church ( which is right across the street from City Hall )  did a WONDERFUL job of organizing things yesterday. As a rule in New York there is a waiting period after you get your license, but that was waived yesterday , and folks could see judges that volunteered their time there in City Hall, or go across the street to the Church where many religious folk of all ilks were there waiting to help you. Punch , cookies, cake and birdseed, the community really came out to honor these folks and just give support. There was a little story along with Dan and Grady about a mother and daughter that went out in their yard and made all these  pretty little hand tied bouquets and boutonnieres for folks getting married over in Brighton, a straight mom and child who just wanted to be a part of the great wave of good feelings that was just in the air yesterday.
It was just a lovely day. About the minor flea speck protesters yesterday... Crack your cheeks all you want, fools, lay down and kick in the candy aisle, you will never ever be able to beat THIS ( really, click on this one , if only for the smile you will get...)

Found the video of Dan and Grady!
