You've got to be Carefully Taught

It is so very true. I see it in my kids' friends, who often take on the prejudices of their parents and are surprised and suspicious to encounter an adult with different views.

But if their horizons are widened, I don't think the hate is etched in stone until their '30s, do you? Note the "if," which means being around people who are different form you and who have different opinions.

I always wonder about the kids who get dragged to the abortion protest on my morning commute. Why take a kid out of school for this? Sometimes it's babies and toddlers, sometimes pre-teens or teens. A lot of times it's really cold. Almost always there are gruesome images. I always assume that this is part of their homeschool education.
