MY MAN

From the NYT  ARTS BEAT : "The actor Bobby Cannavale, a Tony Award nominee last spring for the biting play “The ____________ With the Hat,” will make his musical theater debut this winter in the Broadway-bound revival of “Funny Girl” as the con man Nick Arnstein, starring opposite Lauren Ambrose as the comedian Fanny Brice, the production announced on Tuesday.
The musical, which ran on Broadway from 1964 to 1967 and originally starred Barbra Streisand, revolves around Brice awaiting the return of her husband Arnstein from prison, recalling their life together as she rose to show business stardom. Sydney Chaplin played Arnstein in the first Broadway production, and Omar Sharif played him in the 1968 film that also starred Ms. Streisand.
The revival of the show — which has music by Jule Styne, lyrics by Bob Merrill and a book by Isobel Lennart — is scheduled to run at the Ahmanson Theater in Los Angeles from Jan. 15 to Feb. 26, 2012, before an anticipated move to Broadway in the spring." ( the rest )
