• VIRGINIA : From the Washington Post , RICHMOND - Antiabortion activists scored a major victory in Virginia as the state's General Assembly agreed Thursday that clinics where most of the state's early-term abortions are performed should be regulated as hospitals instead of physician's offices. Abortion rights advocates, who have fended off similar attempts in Virginia for two decades, say the new rules could be so onerous that they could force as many as 17 of the state's 21 abortion clinics out of business. ( the rest )   Yes, whereas abortion is legal there in the Old Dominion .. there are only going to be FOUR places for women to get one in the whole 42,774 square miles.
• IOWA! ( and this one is so freaking twilight zone that it just makes you crazy) From the Iowa Independent via JMG : "Two bills sponsored by Iowa House Republicans could have significant public safety consequences, and perhaps the most unnerving of those potential outcomes would be the justifiable use of deadly force against abortion or family planning providers.When the two pieces of legislation are combined they create a situation where a fertilized egg would be considered a person, and allow for the public execution of those who would threaten such a person. If passed into law, the two bills — House File 7 and House File 153 — would offer an unprecedented defense opportunity to individuals who stand accused of killing such providers, according to a former prosecutor and law professor at the University of Kansas, and are something that might have very well led to a different outcome in the Kansas trial of the man who shot Dr. George Tiller in a church foyer".( the rest ) It is LEGAL TO SHOOT DOCTORS!!  and, really, if the SHOOTER is arrested for you know, blowing away some doctor, the arrested party can sue the police dept!!!! Nebraska is taking up the same law.
