We came, we saw, we quite possible bought a used car
The forces of good gathered again Monday in Albany, hopefully for the last time. This year we brought along a whole gaggle of Episcopal priests, ( even some NON gay ones! ) in full all out Episcopal drag. Now, the priests were all , love and justice.. I was all about scaring the shit out of all the damn Italian Roman Catholics that are entrenched in the New York Senate. My thinking is they are all just Pavlovian when it comes to a black shirt and white collar ...
Seen here, the back of Neil's head and a couple of the non gay priests, having what turned out to be a pretty good meeting with our senator, Jim Alesi.. who , seriously,I may have outed as a gay man during this meeting. Again this year we met with him in the big ornate Senate lobby, or coat room/waiting room, what ever they call it... and the ceiling is like 30-40 feet high, so I really could not hear everything that was going on... but he was telling us some long winded senator story about something and said he had gone to the local hippy Catholic church with a date. Ever respectful of authority Kyle asked him if it was a girl or a guy.. causing everyone around us to laugh and point at me as " that crazy Southern guy we keep around for comic relief.. pay him no mind ". The Senator walks over to me and says, " well, it was a girl, but let me tell you, I am a 63 year old man, who has never been married, and goes to the excommunicated gay friendly Roman Catholic-esque church in town...wink wink..."
As the question " how many cats do you have ? " was forming in my mouth the head priest took us all back to the talking points....
Senator Alesi spent a good deal of time with us, saying nothing.... other than he oh so loves the gays, but party this and timing that and blah blah blah. He has been the local senator since Moses was a boy, and is so well known that he could be found with a dead girl or a live boy and still be re-elected, so who knows.
Our new living in sin Governor has made Marriage Equality one of his top three goals of this session, and he is a VERY smart political man, so we shall see...
You can see how tall this room is, and it was full of people , so real conversation was a little difucult.
I really like this photograph that I took, it was a BEAUTIFUL day in New York.
The actual Capitol building
A MAJOR bless her heart moment, as our Current MISS NEW YORK, who's pageant platform is LGBT rights ( really, we are THAT progressive..) spoke to the lunch time rally in sash , crown and FLIP FLOPS !!! Now we all love our Miss New York, but come on honey, respect the sash and crown.... respect the sash and crown... at least give us a kitten heel.
These fantastic forever old giant sofa's in the Senate lobby, that you just sink down into and cocoon. Took me a major power nap waiting on the Senator.
From, I think the Local Albany tv station, LOTS of good positive state wide coverage.
