Thanks for sharing all this, esp the video. Just got the actual new REM CD last week. Playing it in the car with the kids listening, I realize that so much of what I experience when I hear REM is associated with a time and a place. They like it, but they don't love it.
I sent them this YouTube site http://www.youtube.com/user/REMchout but they'll never find transcendence in the sound of that Stipe-Mills harmony the way we do.
