Senator Kennedy.....

 Is this picture alone enough to get Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg elected to the United States Senate? ( it just may be...)

As I expressed here on the kyle+blog when President Elect Obama was still running to be President,- when Teddy and Caroline et el came out strong for Barack- I was a tiny bit obsessed with JFK for a while. ( and again, a tiny bit obsessed like a blue whale is sort of big...) SO!, you think I would be over the moon about the chance of his daughter becoming my next Senator.

Not so much......

This is not England, our Senate is not a hereditary House of Lords. Why now? I am 1000% sure that Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg is a fantastic person, who has done nothing but good things with her life. I admire someone like her for staying OUT of the limelight all these years. She could have been a media darling - A tabloid standard - much more so than even she has been, and it's great that she made the conscious decision to NOT become that. To more or less take her mothers approach and rise above it all. Until now....

New York Politics is a big ole nasty walking freak show. I thought that Georgia politics was a hot mess... it can not hold a candle to the tiny car full of clowns that Albany is. I had no idea until I stated doing all this marriage equality work just how .... well , facocta , that place is. And Caroline Kennedy will have to dredge deep into that pit, or she may think she can just sail above it all with just her name...

Is that how we do things? I've heard a couple of talking heads saying that there is no difference in what Ms Schlossberg is trying to do, than what Senator Clinton did. Ride into the NY Senate seat , on just your last name. EXCEPT Hillary had .. oh 30 ish years of very public works. A paper trail , was on the record on , pretty much everything. There was close to NOTHING that we did not know about HRC post White House/Ken Star. We don't really know ANYTHING about CKS. Except her last name. 

Who needs who in this ? I can not think that President Obama will need a bff in the Senate.. surely he has one. Is Uncle Ted freaking out about there NOT being a Kennedy in the Senate for the first time since Moses was in short robes and putting her up to this? Is she having her own "empty nest" mid-life crisis? Could she still do some of the things she does and be in the Senate? On a more basic question: " How well will she represent Mendon in the US Senate? "

The pluses are she will day one, be the most famous Senator there, with the ability to raise Obama sized amounts of money, nation wide. She will be able to focus the media on pretty much what ever she wants. That could be a very good thing for New York.

Hillary has been a fantastic Senator. Like I have said before, she has all but come to your house and raked your leaves here in Upstate N.Y. She worked MUCH harder than she really had to. Is Caroline Kennedy willing to come down off the Ivory tower and do the same thing?

NOW, keeping in the whole " As the World Turns/Days of Our Lives" genre. The person that I think should replace Senator Clinton is our current Attorney General Andrew Cuomo ( yes , I know MORE nepotism.. but what are you going to do...) HE is the ex husband ( nasty d-i-v-0-r-c-e ) of Caroline's cousin, RFK's daughter, Kerry Kennedy. Things could get all interesting there!. We will wait and see. Maybe Caroline will surprise me.
