I think this whole beer get-together is just weird. Am I the only one thinking this? The word "stupid" also comes to mind. What's your take?

My take was the President, after wading into the mess, which I am not really sure he meant to do, HAD to do something.. this was as good an act as any. Dr. Gates is a friend of his...

The whole things was greatly overhyped by the media ( shock) and you KNOW it will be the season opener of Oprah this fall...

BUT, the overall " BIG PICTURE" is , getting anyone to talk about race, black men and the police, etc. is a good thing

I suppose your right Kyle....pardon Bday's snorting beer out of her nose...But I guess my mind goes back to all of the 1920's, 1930's 1940's images of Presidents, I have, and trying to imagine them meeting over something like this. I would have thought there were more important things in the world. But....but, I suppose it shows my subconscious prejudices.

You all know I don't pay a lot of attention . . . but I continue to be impressed by POTUS' attempts to put things in perspective, be open-minded, and try to cut through some of the BS being in the TV spotlight brings. He opened his mouth when he should've kept it shut and then did what any decent human should -- talk it over a brewski. Because, really, "Can We Talk ABout Race?"

Unfortunately, the chat itself became TV fodder -- Beer Summit -- which blew it all out of proportion.

The moral, as always? Blame the tube.
