Labor Day Dinner at the lake OR Myrtle at the Copacabana

After a full week of chamber of commerce weather, it was a little drizzlie and over cast today.. but the rain held off
I have not cooked on a real grill in a long time. I liked it, I think I may get one
A couple of pork tender loins, grilled veggies, corn went on later
Pork, rice, roasted corn ( yummy! ) grilled veggies and a salad.
the taste of Summer.

And then the Myrtle part.. ( If you did not go to UGA in the early 80's the Myrtle the goat stuff with have no meaning.. but if you did, you are rolling on the floor...)

We had dinner up at our friends Jack and Linda's lovely house up on Lake Ontario. After everyone having a busy Summer it was nice to have some time together NOT watching a baseball game.  Jack told us this very , to me, amusing story:

A few months ago he got an out of the blue phone call from his National Fraternity office, thinking it was a call for cash , he was a little reticent , but started chatting. NOT a money call at all, they want to make him an Outstanding Alumni or Distinguished Brother , I am not sure what the award was , BUT , it was a big deal at the big Sigma Phi Epsilon biannual convention in Orlando. Free trip, big fancy black tie awards dinner, big speech, whole nine yards. So off Jack and Linda go.. said they had a very nice time. Everyone was super nice, very friendly, lots of fun.. good people, fun parties , etc.
So, there is the big dinner , Jack knocks the ball out of the park with his speech , and the person following him is the brand new grand poo-bah of all the Sig Ep's nation wide, President Elect  ( I just googled them, the meeting was the Grand Conclave, the guy is the Grand President ..) Any way , his name is Garry Kief and he does his thing.. talking about inclusion in fraternities etc. They said a lovely speech and in talking with him afterward he tells Jack and Linda that he has a company and a website which they go to: Stiletto Entertainment. It's Barry Manilow's company... The Big Cheese , the grand high water buffalo of all the Sigma Phi Epsilons is : BARRY MANILOW'S HUSBAND!! out and proud. Times have changed.. and in a good way.

Sigma Phi Epsilon in Athens.. at least it was 1000 years ago. Those two boys at Sussex  were Sig Eps, and they were nice guys.. pretty much the extent of my knowledge.
