Earlier this Summer the Governor of Maine signed into full marriage equality there in the Pine Tree state. Joining all of New England , sans Rhode Island, ( but Rhode Island recognizes Mass Marriages......) Disco dancing in the streets! BUT, there is a way in law for any group to get any law put before the voters, so no one has been married yet, and it will be on the ballot this fall. What does this have to do with health care?? Well! The President would LOVE to have Maine Senator Olympia Snowe be on his side in the health care debate, as a.... dinosaur <del/> moderate Republican. There for making the bill , at least on paper, the Obama Holy Grail of Bipartisan....
Enter the homos. The wack job right has drawn it's little line in the rocky beach sand of Maine and are doing their usual hate filled dog and pony show. ( yawn..) The Roman Catholic Bishop of the VERY cash strapped Dioceses called for all the collection plates in every Roman Catholic church to be sent around the church TWICE yesterday , with the second plate full- o- cash going straight into funding hate. ALL this means that the very right wing that is there in Maine is fired up and ready, really they are the only ones that get so rilled up when freedom prevails. BUT, if they are this fired up, then they could easily put someone way right of Ms. Snowe in a GOP primary with her. Which could make her a little bit less likely to support the President in his goal to bring health care to all.
Wonder if I am the only one thinking about this....
