HUGE story in Gay Atlanta:
The bar that Neil and I met in THE EAGLE there on Ponce, was raided last Thursday night by the APD. Each side is telling all sorts of different tales. The APD was all about " they are selling drugs" and the unbelievable horror of nekkid boys dancing on the bar..
The police had undercover guys inside the bar and others came in all guns a- blaze, yelling and forcing patrons of the bar to the floor....From the SOVO:
"Everyone was ordered to get on their stomachs and face down during this ordeal. As far as I could tell everyone was searched at least once, most of us twice. Most, but not all, of the officers were incredibly derogatory and insulting whether they found evidence of drugs or not," Vives said. "When asking why, we were met with derisive remarks and no explanation. I am furious at how we were treated and can't believe that this has happened in this day and age. The officers present were incredibly rude to anyone who dared to ask what was happening and several were openly hostile towards the gay patrons."
APD is learning that you just don't mess with the leather queens, they are as well organized as the Mormons or Amway. These boys are pissed . A BIG rally was held at the bar on Sunday night, and the law suits are flying. Good for the boys for fighting back, IF they were wronged...
Here is my dilemma: At gun point I am told to lie, face down on the floor at the Eagle..... Man, I would have had to debate would it really be as bad as getting shot by that cop...
