There was one sign at last weekends rally that stated:

That is a little how I am feeling as I write this. Attack politics, or what we so quaintly called it back in the Clinton Era : " the politics of personal destruction" is alive and well in today's GOP. You know, I am sure, its alive and well on the left as well, but, we can look at that some other time, and quite frankly, the freaking Cheney's deserve what ever comes their way....

Two of the latest , post Acorn, voodoo dolls of the wack job right are Safe Schools Czar Kevin Jennings and .... the entire Islamic Faith.

The President appointed Mr. Jennings to be

head of the Education Department's Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools, you know the " safe schools Czar". Kevin Jennings has an impeccable background, including degrees from Harvard and Columbia , plus others. He has worked for his entire career in public education, and worked his entire career at making school a safe place for all kids to be. He founded the group GLSEN which has worked MIRACLES in getting schools and teachers to focus in on the abuse that glbt kids face in schools. I don't know the latest numbers but the rate at which gay kids kill themselves was/is off the charts higher than straight kids. I am sure , (hopefully) it is getting better.

Enter Sean Hannity.

All hopped up on Acorns and ousted green Czar, Van Jones, and having lost his KING CRAZY CROWN to cry baby supreme Glen Beck, Mr. Hannity started a slam book on Kevin Jennings. In his very best Senator John Iselin impersonation Mr. Hannity shouts from his Fox News rooftop : " THERE ARE HOMOS IN THE WHITE HOUSE!" There are no more real communists, so we will go after the gay man!

Right on cue, lambs to the slaughter , FIFTY THREE GOP CONGRESSMEN, fall lock step to their corporate overlord and write a letter to the President demanding that Kevin Jennings be fired. The hooded group , headed by gay hating Congressman Steve King of Iowa writes:

Dear Mr. President,

"We respectfully request that you remove Kevin Jennings, the Assistant Deputy Secretary for the Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools, from your Administration. It is clear that Mr. Jennings lacks the appropriate qualifications and ethical standards to serve in this capacity.
As the founder of the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN), Mr. Jennings has played an integral role in promoting homosexuality and pushing a pro-homosexual agenda in America's schools-an agenda that runs counter to the values that many parents desire to instill in their children. As evidence of this, Mr. Jennings wrote the foreword for a book titled Queering Elementary Education: Advancing the Dialogue About Sexualities and Schooling. Throughout his career, Mr. Jennings has made it his mission to establish special protections for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered students to the exclusion of all other students. The totality of Mr. Jennings' career has been to advocate for public affirmation of homosexuality. There is more to safe and drug free schools than can be accomplished from the narrow view of Mr. Jennings who has, for more than 20 years, almost exclusively focused on promoting the homosexual agenda." Dear Mr. President,

" You have a faggot on your pay roll".

Mr Jennings has written many books and in one he recalls an event 25 years ago when a 15 year old student came to him and said he was having sex with an older man. Mr Jennings asked " are you wearing condoms". He did not report this as child abuse. Twenty Five years ago the focus of the Gay Community was staying alive. Condoms were doing this, Aids was still rampant and a death sentence. That is where his brain was, these many years later, he has said "I should have done something more ", and the boy in question has defending Mr. Jennings.

None of this matters, facts don't matter. These people see gay folks as sub-human and fall back on the OUTRAGEOUS recruitment argument. We are not out after your children idiots, dumbass, we ARE your children! Why , in 2009 is this sort of thing still allowed. Fine if you don't want to associate with gay folks, don't. But, that does not stop the Constitution at the gate you are putting up. Throwing this argument out to the all hate all the time crowd fires them up, but does nothing at all to promote a safe school or protect any children. You know, as the right wing and the G.O.P boils down to JUST the crazies, the last bastion of the old Dixie-crats, we are only going to become a more and more polarized nation. When will we , as an entire country get tired of this rancor, and get on with the hard work at hand?
