Hand of Buddha

Today's adventure in shopping!
Look at what Wegman's had : Hand of Buddha or Buddha's Hand.

Picture taken amongst the Mangoes. They were expensive: 14.99 for one!

Buddha's Hand, Buddha's Hand citron, or Fingered citron (Citrus medica var. sarcodactylis) is a fragrant citron variety whose fruit is segmented into finger-like sections.
The citron grows on a shrub or small tree with long, irregular branches covered in thorns. Its large, oblong leaves are pale green and grow about four to six inches. Its white flowers are tinted purplish from the outside and grow in fragrant clusters.
The fruit has a thick peel and only a small amount of acidic flesh (if any) and is juiceless and sometimes seedless. It is very fragrant and is used predominantly by the Chinese and Japanese for perfuming rooms and personal items, such as clothing. ( read more..)

Look at what else Wegman's has. This is a seriously fantastic INTERNATIONAL AISLE. I buy some pretty funky stuff from time to time and have never NOT found what I was looking for. Today was Pomegranate Molasses, and yes, they had it. BUT, look at the other things on the exotic aisle : Southern Cooking!

Roddenberry's Boiled Peanuts ( that are not called that any more ) and canned collard greens. So very exotic!
