Lake ERIE lake effect

This is a pretty rare happening for us here in the greater Mendon metro area. The winds from this storm that is whipping most of the East Coast are so strong, they are picking up moisture from Lake Erie and dropping it all over Western New York.
Buffalo and that part of the state gets smacked every Winter with the Erie lake effect snow, very odd for a storm to be so big as too make it all the way to us. This picture of the radar is from Five this afternoon, the snow was much heavier earlier in the day.

It's also really cold, so all that wind is just making it worse. A good day to be indoors!
It is mid-December, and this is the very first taste of Winter we have had, so we really can not complain.
