S-a-t-u-r-day Night.

Win-Win-Win!

A lovely Bar Mitzvah reception with a generous open bar , in a room in a country club right next to the Grill Room with lots of big screen tvs to keep up with the game. AND , that third win: The kids were off in their own section! Sometimes segregation can be a good thing.

The theme was Artists.. or maybe it was paintings. Either way we were at the DiVinci table. Nice people, met one couple we really liked. The kids had a blast. They had these very fun gift bags on their far away table, and were all having a really good time.
The backs of our hosts. You know, it was your basic Chinese-Canadian, nice Jewish boy Bar Mitzvah. Both are MIT grads, but fun ones! The young man of the hour had a wonderful time, and it was very sweet to see how he incorporated all the aspects of his family into his Bar Mitzvah, very American...
I had swordfish, it was good.
Neil had the filet.
The young people had their own buffet! Tacos with all the fixins, pizza, chicken fingers and mac-n-cheese. So, so ,so smart ( MIT will do that) to let the young folks be young folks!

They danced, played fun games, one of the prizes in the bags were these life size blow up guitars, really just like a dime store sort of thing, but they all loved them. Many many little Eddie Van Halens in the room. Neil and I gave some real thought to adopting a 12 1/2 year old Jewish kid....

THE GAME

Like I said, our space was right next to the Grill Room of the country club, so I got to watch most all of the game. I was VERY surprised. This was NOT the Alabama team that all but lost to Auburn a week ago. AND! really.. was TEBOW crying THAT hard in the end? Come on, Tim.... sometimes you need to reel those emotions in. Yes, you lost your second Heisman , yes, you are not going out as National Champs, YES, two OTHER quarterbacks might get a second or two of air times between now and the end of the year.. but: THERE IS NO CRYING IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL . Wipe away a tear at the solo trumpet before the game.. sure, but all out weeping on camera.. not your best look.
Alabama showed some class by spiking the ball for those last two plays instead of running up the score. Sorry AU folks, but it's just true. Also the one and only time in my life to root for the damn gators and they lost.

I was not watching Texas, but wtf was that last second thing?? Alabama should be able to run all over them in the Championship game.

AND, those plucky little North Ave. Trade School Bumblebees going to the Orange Bowl, first time since like 1966. Good for them. BUT, the ACC Championship game was YET again NOT SOLD OUT... ACC football....

Last Saturday was a great day of college football. I was surprised alot by the Alabama game. I didn't think they had it in them like that.

As far as the ACC championship....why do they play the game in Tampa, FL....is beyond me. Sure it's about the money but the ACC loses out on a more local packed raucous stadium atmosphere. Besides, GA and SC were the CO:ACC Champions.
