The mouse that roared....
That deafening sound that you don't hear , is any real uproar at all coming from the soon to be green corn fields of Iowa. One has to DIG to find any real outrage. Now granted , the right wing had a bad , bad, bad weekend... looks like two of the mass killings that happened had some right wing talking points behind the sick sick men's sprees. That and the ongoing gun control debate. Maybe the crowd that would be yelling the loudest at equality in Iowa were busy ?
The Democratic Iowa Senate Majority Leader, Michael Gronstal and House Speaker Pat Murphy held a joint press conference saying they had NO INTENTION of bringing up a bill to start putting segregation inside the Iowa Constitution.. which puts the earliest that this wrong could be done will be 2012. Three years of the sun coming up and the crops not failing, will that make a difference, who knows, but it easily could...The Mormons and the rest of the wacko's will dump TONS of money to get that done. Which from everything I know about IOWA, could really back-fire.
On the flip side of happy happy joy joy Iowa style, just a few min ago the chicken hearted GOP Governor of Vermont George Wallace Jim Douglas did veto the will of the people and canceled marriage equity in his great state. We will need to pick up FIVE votes to override this veto. I have not read if the people in the know think this will happen.
