I don't really know if it has any real ties to the AJC , and sadly I don't even remember which newspaper - The Journal or the Constitution - covered Dixie LIKE THE DEW, But I have strong memories of getting both a morning and evening paper, Old times here and all...
Anyway, it says it's " A JOURNAL OF SOUTHERN CULTURE AND POLITICS, and it is sort of what Sunday papers used to be, when you spread them out on the coffee table reading them all Sunday morning, with breakfast left on the table to " pick at" and watched what ever movie tbs ( channel 17 ) chose to show that Sunday morning. This got you all the way to at least 2:00, when it was fine to have your first drink and get on with the day..
Today ( well, it has been there a while ) there is a story that we covered here, on the new OLE MISS mascot. The writer thinks that the Mississippi SOUND AND THE FURY would be a great mascot for them, and I agree! Full story HERE. " [the] mascot incarnation could be a student with a growth of stubble, wearing pajamas and a bathrobe, wandering the sidelines with a drink in one hand and a book in the other. An alternative Faulknerian possibility: The Ole Miss Sound and Fury. If there’s a Miami Heat and an Oklahoma City Thunder, why not?"
Also a lovely little Jonathan Swift-esque story on the blue blue dot that is ATHENS, GA seceding form the RED juggernaut that Georgia has become: THE FREE STATE OF ATHENS.
also a story on the joys of wrapping paper..... a weakness that , really, the less you know about , the better.

Like the Dew has no formal connection to AJC but was formed by and is primarily written by former staffers. I luv it. Keep spreading the word, and give 'em some $.
