art + beat

It's the real thing.

From todays AJC: "An art collector with a cool $20 million or more to burn may be the next owner of a Coca-Cola bottle. Specifically, a painting of a Coke bottle by pop artist Andy Warhol. The 1962 painting is expected to go for between $20 million and $25 million in an auction Tuesday conducted by Sotheby's.
Warhol featured Coke bottles in four large paintings and numerous smaller ones. The painting to be sold Tuesday is the last of four paintings of individual Coca-Cola bottles executed by Warhol in 1961 and 1962,. It is the largest of the group, measuring 81 5/8 inches by 56 7/8 inches. It has been off the market for three decades. Coca-Cola is not connected to the auction."

For just a little bit less you can have a print of my old pal Howard Finster's Coke bottle:
currently 16.95 on the e-bay. Christmas is right around the corner .......
